Just a reminder that the Silverpen Productions blog is now primarily located (and updated) at www.silverpenproductions.com/blog.   Please be sure to follow us there as this site is no longer regularly updated.

Are You Ready for Google’s New Settings?

March 30, 2015 § Leave a comment

5267464508_7326039635_nDid you hear the news?

Google is making major updates to its search results. And if your company’s website is not super mobile friendly, you could be losing some major hits!

Not sure how your website ranks? Try using Google’s Webmaster Tool to see how your site adds up. You can also use their Mobile-Friendly Test Tool to see just how “friendly” your site is. If Google says it’s not so friendly, they will give you a list of options on how to proceed to the next step.

Time is short to make these updates. Google is already beginning to implement these changes, with the major impacts starting on April 21st.

While you’re updating your site’s coding, take a look at your content. How effective is it? Have you been getting the results you need off of your website? When is the last time you changed your content? If it’s pretty much the same content you started with, you should think about making some updates. Fresh content impacts your Google ratings as well, and a stagnant site will not get as much attention as one that has recently been updated.

Also take a look at how professional your content is. Does it portray your business in the best possible manner? Or are there grammar issues? Typos? Elementary sentence styling? Can you tell that an amateur wrote it, or does it sound like you paid a lot of money for a true professional to write it? Does it relate to your audience, in their “language”?

The answers to these questions are all important considerations. You don’t just want a web presence. You want a web presence that will reach your target audience. You want a presence that will get you and your business true results!

Your website is a reflection of your business and you want to appear as professional as possible. You want people to have confidence in your products and services. Believe it or not, if people are searching Google for a service, the “tone” of the site will determine whether if you get a call or not. If the site looks too amateurish, they will move on to the next one on the list. If all other considerations are the same between two businesses, people will pick the one with the better site, every time.

If you’re not sure if your content is at the standard it should be, contact us. Silverpen Productions does free consultations and estimates. Let us help you make your site the best it can possibly be and be sure that you stay at the top of Google’s rankings, regardless of the upcoming changes!

SP would like to welcome our new intern, Emilie Nadler! Emilie will be with us until May, and will be contributing to this blog, The IF Factor, and our Facebook page, in addition to helping out in other areas of the business as well. She brings a new perspective to the mix and we are very excited to have her!

Emilie is a senior at Skidmore College, majoring in Government and English. Her formal writing experience has been with the Conway Daily Sun in New Hampshire, where she photographed, wrote, and had stories published. She has also interned in the marketing department of Kroll Bond Ratings in New York City and at the Cypress Group, a financial lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. Her interests include travel, politics, the news, photography, and environmental issues. After graduation, Emilie hopes to pursue a career in environmental policy.

Facebook Issues

January 14, 2015 § Leave a comment

We have been experiencing severe difficulties with the Facebook Page for the last few weeks. It suddenly stopped working properly and Facebook can’t (or won’t) seem to fix it. It has been very frustrating!

But just wanted to post this so you would know what is going on. Hopefully they will be able to get it together and get us up and running again soon! At that point, we will resume with the updates, discounts, and all the other fun stuff we have for our Facebook followers.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience. If you are trying to get in touch with us and can’t access our page, please feel free to email us at info@silverpenproductions.com.

Looking forward to connecting again soon!

Website Updates

March 10, 2013 § Leave a comment

Over the next several weeks, SP will be making some organizational changes and updates to the website.  During this time, you may notice that some of the menus may be different on various pages, graphics may not be consistent, some pages may contain older material, and/or some pages may temporarily not work at all.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as the new changes roll out. These glitches should hopefully not last long. In the meantime, as always, you can reach us any time at info@silverpenproductions.com
to request more information or to set up a free consultation.
Please also be sure to “Like” our Facebook Page to receive the most up-to-date information and special promotions and discounts available for our Facebook followers only.

We hope to have these changes completed soon and will try our best to keep the changes from causing too many issues with the website.
Thank you!

What’s With the Fitness Stuff?

October 31, 2012 § 2 Comments

I’ve been asked why there have been more articles about fitness related things both on this blog and on the  SP Facebook page.

I believe that health & fitness should be a component of all the arts.  How can you whole-heartedly create if your body and mind are not working at their best possible status?  In order to create, you need to be a “perfect” blank slate (I use the word perfect loosely here, since nothing is “perfect” when it comes to humans).  It is obvious that a dancer needs to be in good shape – both physically and mentally.  But the same is true for a writer, musician, etc., although it may not be quite so obvious.  The finer tuned your body, mind, and soul are, the finer tuned your work will be.  The easier your brain will be able to fluidly continue to create.

This is true for all things in life, not just the arts. It is for this reason that I continue to post some wellness related things.  I hope this might answer a few of those questions….

Thank You, Maurice Sendak

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of the great children’s writer, Maurice Sendak.

Best known for his book, Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice sparked imaginations in both kids and adults everywhere with all of his loveable work. He inspired many not only to read, but to use their minds and imaginations in a creative way throughout life as well.  The world has lost one of the greats today.

RIP, Mr. Sendak.  Thank you for being an inspiration to many in so many ways!
